This is Maxwell Perkins, Thomas Wolfe's first editor and a very close friend. He is portrayed as Foxhall Edwards in You Can't Go Home Again. Mr. Perkins was famous for being editor to both F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. A. Scott Berg wrote a very good biography on Perkins, entitled Max Perkins, Editor of Genius, published by Dutton in 1978.
