LIBRARY FACULTY ELECTION PROCEDURES

Elections for the Library Faculty Personnel Committee, Library Faculty Welfare Committee, and Faculty Senate are held in May by secret ballot. All library faculty including the University Librarian are eligible to vote for Faculty Senate. The University Librarian is ineligible to vote for the Library Faculty Personnel and Faculty Welfare Committees.

Library Faculty Personnel Commttee: five librarians will be elected to one-year terms beginning the following fall; consecutive terms are allowed. At least two librarians must be from the 5-year contract ranks. Candidates for 5-year contracts and their supervising librarians are ineligible to serve on the Library Faculty Personnel Committee.

Library Faculty Welfare Committee: six librarians will be elected to two-year terms in two staggered groups. Consecutive terms are allowed. All librarians are eligible, but each group must include one tenured librarian, one librarian from the 5-year contract ranks, and one librarian from the 1-year ranks.

Faculty Senate: two librarians will be elected to two-year terms beginning the following fall. Consecutive terms are allowed.

Ballots will be distributed by the chair of the Faculty Welfare Committee, who will count the ballots and report the results to the library faculty. In the case of a tie, a run-off ballot will be conducted under the same conditions. In the case of a second tie, the chair will invite the two candidates to a coin toss.
