McLean Page Collection
This
collection contains the correspondence and records of McLean Page (also known as
Sam Page and Sam Love). Page’s personal records, including mortgage agreements,
crop lien papers, receipts of payment for fertilizer, and records of cotton
sales and other agricultural products, indicate that Page worked as a farmer.
McLean Page appears also to have worked as a skidder with Butters Lumber Company
in Boardman, NC. Correspondence between Page and his family, including wife Mary
Jane Gore Page, dates from 1918-1924. Receipts and letters indicate that Page
lived in and around Whiteville, NC. Two original account books and several
photographs are also included in the collection. The collection was donated by
Angie P. Harrington, granddaughter of McLean Page and daughter of Louise Page
Jefferson.
