1857 - 1962

Hall and Pearsall, Wholesale Grocers and Commission Merchants, with large storage and shipping depot, eventually became Pearsall & Company, sellers of staples and high grade fertilizers, hay and grain, trading all over the eastern seaboard, with established businesses as W. R. Grace and Co., Steamship Lines, and others of note.

Oscar Pearsall kept in touch with family and friends in a number of states by letter. His interest in their lives, loves, business, travels, and most especially, schooling, is most evident. This collection of letters, shipping labels, bills, ledgers, and insurance certificates shows how the transfer of property, goods and services was conducted in an era of solid reputations and a handshake.
